From The Pulpit
Greetings from our Pastor,
Rev. Jane Plantinga Pauw
When you walk into Rainier Beach Presbyterian Church on a Sunday morning, you will be warmly welcomed by greeters, who will point you to the gorgeous sanctuary where we worship. As you wait for the service to begin, a beautiful mixture of people of European, Asian, African, and Caribbean ancestry will gather. These people vary in age from newborns to nineties. They come together to seek and worship the fount of our unity, Jesus Christ. We will sing a variety of songs, both ancient and contemporary, in praise of our Savior. We will pray for our hurting world, our families, our city, our church, and for all who seek God’s gracious healing and presence. The children will gather in the front for a special message and prayer; then they will go to children’s classes and activities for the rest of the hour. The worshipers will hear me read a portion of Scripture and apply it to our lives. Then we will all gather in the fellowship hall for refreshments and fellowship. Throughout the week people will continue to worship and serve Christ in Bible studies and small groups, in various mission activities, and in their homes and careers.
I am thrilled to be called to serve and praise God with these faithful, committed followers of Jesus Christ. I wish everyone could experience the authenticity and joy of this fellowship. If you are seeking to grow spiritually, or simply to connect with other people who want to learn how to follow Jesus, please join us. If you are in need of prayer, pastoral care, or a call from a deacon, please contact us. We would love to have you serve and worship God with us.
