Rainier Beach Presbyterian Church

Our Mission

Rainier Beach Presbyterian Church is a Christ-centered multi-cultural church that welcomes and embraces diversity.  Our mission is to share the Good News with all people and help them grow as followers of Jesus Christ.  We strive to be an example of Christ's kingdom by sharing our faith and responding to people's needs.

Our Focus

"Open doors, open arms, open hearts in Christ's love."

Statement of Faith

Written by RBPC Elders and Deacons during the Officer's Retreat on October 29, 2005.

We believe in God, the Creator of all things, the Source of all love and the Ruler of the universe.

We believe in Christ, God in human form, who sacrificed himself for us so that we might be reconciled to God and all creation.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, God's voice and touch in our lives, our lifeline to the living God, who links us with God's power and grace, opening our minds and hearts to God.

We believe the Church is the community of believers, Christ's family on earth and in heaven, charged with promoting God's kingdom on earth.

We believe the Bible is the unique and inspired revelation of God's interaction with the world and God's promise of salvation.

We believe we are children of God, redeemed by Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

We believe that through our relationship with the living God,  all our relationships are being transformed. Thankful for each family member and friend, we are aware of the blessing each one is in our lives. Because we have found acceptance and confidence in Christ, we are more accepting of differences between us. Because of God's presence in our lives, we are able to foster love and care as patient listeners and leaning posts among family and friends. Thankful for all that God has given, we seek to be good stewards in our community, involved and aware of needs around us and we seek to be good stewards of creation, aware of the little things and big things, the butterflies and the oceans, knowing our responsibility to care for creation in all we do. Valuing diversity, we believe strangers and enemies are potential friends. Through our fellowship and formation in Christ, we are more accepting, outgoing and trusting, showing tolerance and friendship toward others, seeking opportunities to bear witness for our unity in Christ.  Living by God's Word, we follow wherever God leads us, setting an example for Christ, forgiving and giving, seeking to approach everyone we meet with a spirit of truth and openness.
