Rev. Jane Plantinga Pauw, Pastor

Educated at Calvin College and Fuller Theological Seminary, our pastor and her husband, Jack, live in Seattle’s Beacon Hill neighborhood with their pit bull, Eclipse. Some of Jane’s passions in ministry are multicultural and refugee issues, creativity and the arts in worship, diverse church music, improvising with her violin on Sundays, and learning about our amazing Rainier Beach community.  If you ask her what she loves most about our church, she will say “our beautiful mosaic of people, otherwise known as our motley crew”.  Jane and Jack have travelled to six continents and 36 countries, and consider their travel the best and most important part of their ongoing education.  They particularly enjoy long-distance walking while traveling and always plan their trips around walks, hikes, and bird-watching. Our pastor’s passion for our church is to help the congregation implement its Purpose, Values, and Ministry Priorities (see document). Their two adult daughters bought a duplex in the Rainier View neighborhood. Tara (the younger) works as a social worker in the oncology department of Children’s hospital. Natasha (the older) is director of the Seattle Earthkeepers Preschool, a ministry of RBPC.
