Easter is a joyful, celebrative event at RBPC!  We invite everyone and anyone to come celebrate this big day in the life of the world.  Here is the schedule of events:

8:30 am: Men's Breakfast

9:30 am:  Easter egg hunt for children.  Meet in the downstairs fellowship hall, and then watch the kids hunt for candy and other things!

10 am:  Celebrative Easter worship for all ages.  Special music, special prayers and hymns, and a lot of fun.  The children will worship with us for the first part and then will go downstairs for their own time.  All are invited to bring flowers and greens from their gardens for the adorning of the cross.  Please leave them on the "front porch" of the church by the big red doors.

Holy Week at RBPC

The week from Palm Sunday to Easter is known as "holy week" because it recounts the events in Jesus' life leading up to and including his crucifixion.  We celebrate these events becuase they are a crucial point in the story of God's saving work in Jesus Christ.

Palm/Passion Sunday, 10 am: walking with Jesus through his last week.  Beginning with joy and triumph, ending with the story of Jesus' journey to his death on the cross.

Maundy Thursday, 7 pm, celebrating Jesus' last meal with his disciples.  Tonight he washes their feet and gives them the meal that we have reinacted consistently for 2,000 years, the "Lord's Supper" (otherwise known as the Eucharist or communion).  We will receive the holy sacrament in this quiet, meditative service.   All are welcome.

Good Friday service, 7 pm at Columbia City Church of Hope (3818 S. Angeline St. Seattle, WA, 98118. Phone: 206-722-5651).  This is an ecumenical joint service with Presbyterian, Lutheran, Methodist, and UCC/Brethren neighborhood churches, and ti will feature tenebrae, the extinguishing of candles as readings are given.  All are welcome.

Palm/Passion Sunday

This Sunday we process into the church with palms, re-enacting Jesus' triumpha entry into Jerusalem.  The choir and the children will sing a glorious African song of praise, and after prayers and more singing we will share communion together.  Then, 14 readers, spread across the back of the sanctuary, will read the entire Passion story--the story of Jesus' walk to the cross, and his death.
